It aims to train child development educators with regard the theoretical and practical education programs which support all developmental areas (mental, language, motor, self-care, social and emotional) of children aged 0-6 (pre-school) based on both normal development and special education needs. In order to train graduates fit for the purpose in question, the curriculum has been prepared by taking into account the physical, mental, cognitive and psycho-motor development processes of children. In this context, courses like mental health, special education, gymnastics, animation, drama, music, painting, puppet and toy making, games and game materials have been selected as basic courses. Additionally, the program courses include computer and foreign language courses. In the program, it is accepted as the basic principle to determine children’s skills and behaviours according to the theory of multiple intelligences, and to organize education and training accordingly. It is aimed to give the necessary importance to motivation in order to develop creative thinking in children and to enable them to learn through experience. It is also aimed to give the children the opportunity to think rationally and make the right decision so that they can easily cope with the problems they face both in preparing for school and in daily life.
The mission of the department; Evaluating the development of children between 0-6 years of age with different characteristics (developing in accordance with their age, having special needs, driven to crime, hospitalized, in need of protection, etc.), developing support programs, implementing and following them, children at risk and To raise child developers who have the knowledge and skills to strengthen their families, who are sensitive to the problems of the country in all matters concerning children and families, to develop scientific knowledge and to ensure that the results of scientific research are used for the benefit of society.
Its vision is; To train child developers who have the competence and scientific perspective to work in different sectors (health, education, justice, etc.) in the field of child development, who can renew and improve themselves in line with the evolving and changing needs of the society, and who are open to creative and contemporary approaches, and student-centered practices in education to achieve this goal. and to carry the quality to the highest level.
